As you can guess, we've been very busy this holiday season! We have lots of pictures and stories, but not very much time to get them posted here. I'll get some good stuff up soon, though, so bear with us.
In the mean time, happy new year!

Sensitive Artiste

Every Thursday, Ro and I go to the library for storytime. After about fifteen minutes of total chaos while the children's librarians try to read a storybook to twenty or so wiggling, squirming, running, yelling, distracted two-year-olds, everyone goes over to the tables to make a craft related to the story they just "heard."
Sometimes RoRo is more interested in finding a dinosaur book to read than in gluing and coloring, but this time he and I managed to make a Thanksgiving scarecrow. Ro worked the glue-stick and then told me where to put each of the shapes. He's very proud of it- in fact when I suggested that we take it to Daddy's office and let him put it on his door, Ro yelled, "No! Go home and put on the frigerator!"
So we did.

Twix or Treat!
RoRo may not remember his first trick-or-treat in the years to come-- but Daddy and I most certainly will! Ro was very polite, and while he didn't always say "Trick or Treat," he did squeak "Tay-Too!" every time he got candy.
In fact, he was almost too polite at one point. A little girl about his age peered into his treat bucket and started sifting through his candy. Sujit and I didn't know quite what to do, so we just watched to see how Ro would handle it. The little girl pulled out a shiny gold Twix bar and promptly asked me to open it.
I wondered whether or not I should try to get the candy back. Ro didn't seem to care, really, that his loot had just been pilfered, so I just said, "No, you need to ask your mommy or daddy if you can eat it."
Disappointed, she turned back to RoRo's candy, maybe thinking that the problem was with her initial choice, and that I would maybe open something else for her. But lo and behold! There was another Twix bar! What luck! She looked them both over carefully, and finally decided that one of them was a little beaten-up for her taste, so she dropped it back into Ro's bucket.
"Tay-Too!" he chirped.

Homecoming and Diwali
RoRo went to the university Homecoming parade Saturday morning, a Diwali party Saturday afternoon, and a Homecoming banquet at the AKL fraternity house that evening! The highlights of his very long day were seeing horses and Shriner's cars at the parade, playing with two little girls at the party, and hanging out with a brightly-colored Godzilla toy at the fraternity.

Seabiscuit Hat!

Today was a cool forty-degrees, and I thought I had better start getting out our cold weather gear. I pulled out a box full of gloves and toboggan hats, and RoRo immediately pulled out a grey newsboy hat that his grandpa had sent him last year.
"A Seabiscuit hat!" he yelled, trying to put it on. He recognized this as the sort of hat worn by the jockeys in one of his favorite movies.

Today was the first day of RoRo's Parents-as-Teachers playgroup. He remembered the little play house they have there, but didn't realize how much he'd grown over the summer-- he tried to walk in and bumped his head on the doorway! He really enjoyed playing "Suppertime" with the toy food and he and another little girl pulled out some drums and gave us all a little concert.
